You want to lose WEIGHT and get FIT,
so you start a new DIET with the best of intentions.
At first, everything goes great. You’re seeing PROGRESS, and it feels AMAZING.
But then you slip up and eat something “BAD.” Suddenly, you feel like a FAILURE, and all of your motivation disappears.
You SPIRAL into a cycle of guilt and shame, vowing to start again tomorrow, next week, or next month.
If you’ve ever struggled with perfectionism in your FITNESS journey — or any area of your life — there’s good news: It is possible to overcome it and finally make lasting PROGRESS toward your goals. But before we talk about how to break free from perfectionism’s prison,
The Illusion of Perfection Perfectionism is an insidious beast that feeds on unrealistic expectations. It tells us that we should always be “on”;
That we should never make MISTAKES; that we must excel at everything we try; that our worth is tied to our performance. Sounds exhausting RIGHT?
The problem is these expectations are UNATTAINABLE — because they aren’t rooted in reality. No one can be perfect 100 percent of the time.
We all FALL short sometimes; it’s part of being human...
That said, I believe that the constant pursuit of growth and improvement (which often involves making MISTAKES) is an important part of living a fulfilling life.
So how do we reconcile those two seemingly contradictory truths? How do we push ourselves to grow without getting trapped in the quicksand of perfectionism?
Focus on PROGRESS Over Perfection Here’s where a subtle distinction becomes important.
There’s a big difference between striving for excellence (and embracing the inevitable imperfections along the way) versus striving for perfection (and bailing as soon as things don’t go according to plan).
When you pursue excellence, PROGRESS is the goal. And PROGRESS is a powerful motivator. When you can consistently see how far you’ve come since you started — even if it’s just baby steps — it keeps the momentum going.
Perfection, on the other hand, will always elude us. It’s a mirage that recedes into the distance every time we think we’re getting close.
Perfectionism creates a vicious cycle of self-defeat where you always feel like a FAILURE because, let’s face it, perfection is impossible. So how do we Hey there, friend!
Permit me to discuss what could slow down your quest for a perfect body – perfectionism.
Yes, that annoying voice in the head which says you are not good enough
And you should strive to become/ be perfect and anything else but that is a FAILURE.
The Problem with Perfection Perfectionism can prove to be a big hindrance when it comes to getting in shape.
We do this by sets of impossibly high standards that we can't possibly reach,
And then give up right away. It is very much like if "I didn't go to the gym today"
Then I might as well eat a whole pizza by myself and forget about my FITNESS goals altogether. Does this ring a bell?
The Beauty of PROGRESS But what if we were to change the perspective completely? What if we considered growth and development and not necessarily perfection? What if every small win, say you made it to the gym three times a week, or tried out a new workout plan, was appreciated?
What if self-care was the priority, so much so that one would know that there is equal importance in rest days as in workout days?
The Benefits of PROGRESS Consistency: Its better to show up for a quick sweat than not show up at all. Self-care:
You can’t reach a goal looking for perfection. PROGRESS, not perfection, is what it’s all about. Shift in mindset -

And taking just as many rest days as training days. Focus on improvement not being perfect,
